Eric’s Motors
Painted in enamels and 23ct gold leaf, onto the doors of the client’s garage where they store their classic cars. It’s a tribute to their late father, Eric; a mechanic, who inspired their love for vintage cars. Whilst designing it, l focused upon what working garages would have looked like in the 1950s - when Eric’s career ambitions were blooming.
Liverpool Brewing Co
Hand painted in enamel paints for Liverpool Brewing Co. Liverpool city centre tap room, 71 Lime Street.
The Shipwreck Mural
Hand painted using acrylic enamels, Posca pens and embellished with 23ct gold and copper leaf. The design is based upon the vintage marching banners of Maritime trade unions and this informed much of the colour palette too: pewter not silver and jute ropes ahoy. The sinking ship is the Ionic Star, which sank off of Formby in 1939, part of the White Star fleet who also owned the Titanic.
Bodega del Lobo
Spanish for Hello Beautiful, this mural transformed the secret cerveza garden of Bodega del Lobo on South Road, in Waterloo. The wall wasn’t in the best condition, so l used a mixture of professional spray paint, enamel sign writing paints and weather-proofed with varnish.
The Volunteer Canteen
The Volunteer Canteen is charming boozer, a favourite of locals and beach walkers - but tucked on quiet street with minimal visibility. The previous vinyl sign had been eaten by the salty air and sunlight and the client wanted to address this. The signs’ principle character is taken from a photo that hung near the bar, which I illustrated and combined with a hand-drawn font. As with all of my work, it’s built to last and painted using premium quality primers, gloss and enamel paints and varnishes.
Beak Fried Chicken
I was commissioned to hand draw their logo, paint signage and a mural for their new site on Smithdown Road - and provide some marketing assistance for the launch. If you’ve not had their fried chicken: you are missing out.
House Names & Numbers
I hand paint house names and numbers the traditional way, using correct period fonts enamel paints that will last the test of time.
